Media and Teens 1 (group formerly in the front right of the class)
Okay y'all, here's a thread for you to continue your discussion about how you want to narrow your topic, and what 3 or 4 main questions you want to help guide your research.
hey just checking in found a couple of databases that have articles on social media If you go on america search premier and just put in social media and teen Susan
do the devices cause people to care more for their virtual lives then their real lives?
can you get away from media? From cell phones you can listen to music, watch movies, and can even access the internet. and everyone has one.
does the new virtual world (facebook, twitter) give everyone too loud of a voice? Because if your in a room with everybody yelling are you going to listen to anyone?
Do ads on Soc. Net. really work are people influenced by them
Does it infuence females differently than males Does texting fit in to this discussion or not. Ive been asking different people and have gotten mixed answers.Susan
how does media make teens anti-social? Why does it make teens anti-social? Why do teens still use media, knowing it makes them anti-social? What is used to distance people from each other? ronnie
I mentioned this in class but I'm not sure anyone quite got what I meant. I thought the commentary this provided on the subject of online disinhibition (search those two words on wikipedia for a more academic approach to the idea) was amusingly relevant.
This Toyota commercial also provides a hilarious commentary on the subject.
Educator Quin Li found in survey that males reported more cyberbullying but females were more likely to report it School Psychology International 2006. I don't know if this was where we were supossed to post our 3 things from research but this is where i am. Susan S
here's my other two research facts: 80%of teens have witnessed some type of cyberbullying and 15% report being a target for the bullying,(Leslie Horn, PC Magazine 2011) there are 6 warning signs of internet addiction: salience-most important thing in their life, mood changes, tolerance, withdrawl, conflict, and finally relapse, (Smahel Dev.Psychol.2012)
