Forum Assignment: Argument Maps
Work on your argument map for a few hours. After you've worked for some time, think about what major question or questions you're running into. It can be a question about your argument itself (you suddenly realized you didn't understand part of your argument until you tried to put it down systematically); how the program works; how to arrange claims (how the claims fit together to form an argument); whatever questions you've run into, and you can't figure out for yourself after puzzling over it for a while. Put your questions below in comments.

ReplyDeleteOnce we take turns viewing each other's maps are we allowed to use claims from group members if they support/rebut our own claims?
Since, my argument is about the way we improve Globalization, I realized that I have more theoretical claims but not enough statistics to support my claim. Also, as I have been developing supporting claims for my sub title through the map, I am confused about how to end it (since we are working from the potential conclusion to supporting arguments).
ReplyDeleteI have noticed that the rebuttals that I used can be used multiple times for different arguments and that's where I am getting confused.
ReplyDeleteI have found and created the map with supporting claims. However, as you require some specific policies to support for my sub question which is referred to "brain drain" and the U.S culture 's role in Globalization, I found it hard to plug some policies into the map; also, how to connect all of them together to lead to the conclusion is my problem
ReplyDeleteWhat was confusing for my map was the fact that i didn't have many actual solid evidence talking about my issue. "Drug Testing among welfare recipients affect the economy". I had to use a lot of what if's.
ReplyDeleteI had a hard time coming up with a solid conclusion to get me going.
ReplyDeleteI found myself questioning my argument. I noticed that my "solid" statements weren't so solid.
ReplyDeleteAs I started my argument map, I did not know where to begin as there was so much information that had to be included. Now, that I am heading towards the completion of my map, I am having so much fun getting into the argument that I am not really sure where to end the discussion. I become quite eager to stick in every interesting fact I found while researching. On a side note, I think that it will be helpful if the program provided had some kind of indicator, for us to use as a guideline, to tell us how strong our supporting facts were. But, overall I think the program is straight forward and easy to use.
